Those studies clarified the 8 planting patterns* and the existence of two planting systems that belong to the northern or the southern area. The characters of northern planting system was composed of 1) cedar forest which forms background trees, 2) a big tree with a small shrine, 3) square-shaped trees called “hiyoke” surrounding the building, and the characters of southern was composed of 1)hedges called “maki-bei” surrounding the premises, 2) planted space for viewing with cycad.\r\nThis paper examines the characters of mixed planting system in the eastern area of Saitama prefecture and Tsukuba area.
