This report describes the current status of and challenges to caps designed for cancer patients that were researched during inspection visits to welfare facilities and welfare equipment exhibitions in three Scandinavian countries, the United States and Shanghai, China, in 2013 and 2014. Results from the recent inspection visits revealed differences between the countries in people’s awareness of caps designed for cancer patients. It was also found with respect to cap design that many of those caps in Japan were knit ones, mostly plain-colored, with some having a pattern such as being striped, checked, flowered or geometric.
