Detailed investigations were conducted into their way of life in the Caribbean nation from the perspective of cultural anthropology.\n At present, approximately one-fifth of these immigrant families remain intact after settling in the Dominican Republic. The success of the settlement was partly owing to their adherence to their often strict ethnic Japanese customs and moral codes in their daily activities and in their interactions and negotiations with the broader Dominican society.
